August 6, 2009. IBS has held an event dedicated to monitoring systems for managers. The business-breakfast held in Moscow on August 5 brought together over 35 mid-level and top managers representing defence, oil and gas, and energy enterprises.
The event was attended by representatives of TNK-BP, “Gazprom PHG”, “Lukoil-Inform”, “Russneft”, “Oboronprom” OPK, “Energoatom Concern”, “Novatek”, “Rosoboronzakaz”, “ATS ORE”, MRSK, “Mosvodokanal”, and many others. Approaches to designing monitoring systems for managers were the principal topic of discussion.
Monitoring systems help aggregate and analyse data from various sources and present them to managers in a visual format. Their principal advantage has to do with the possibility to shield the manager from the constantly growing influx of various data from IT systems and provide him only with key information required to control the situation and make managerial decisions. The possibility to directly connect such information systems with the company’s system of key indicators makes them an even more effective management tool.
The event participants noted that the technology used to design monitoring systems on the basis of industry-specific models and with active participation of the client’s specialists makes it possible to dramatically reduce the timeframes and costs of deployment projects. The results of the project designed to create a “Manager’s Portal” automated information system and implemented at “Surgutneftegaz” were presented as a successful example of such an approach. The audience showed a great deal of interest in the report jointly presented by Girgory Tsipes, the IBS Senior Consultant, and Olga Latypova, the head of the “Surgutneftegaz” IT Division.
After that, IBS consultants presented an overview of available solutions. For example, the IBS portfolio contains a broad spectrum of such systems, including the company’s own solution, “Manager’s Monitor”, portal solutions for top managers, as well as “Business Intelligence” class systems. Application of different platforms makes it possible to identify the most suitable solution based on the enterprise’s needs and its current IT-infrastructure.
“One of the goals of the series of business-breakfast that we have conducted over the past several months is to demonstrate that even today, in the current quite complex financial and economic conditions, there are IT solutions that are able to help business managers to handle the challenges presented by the economic recession. The topic of the event generated a great deal of interest among its participants not only because of its relevance, but also because we presented successful projects and operating monitoring systems. I am certain our clients’ experience will find great demand among many enterprises representing various industry sectors”, – said Georgy Burtsev, the Deputy Director of the IBS Department of Industry and Fuel and Energy Complex.
