March 23, 2009. IBS has built a system for consolidation and review of management information at the holding company level for the Russian Copper Company. The solution is based on SAP SEM-BCS and designed to be an important part of the Russian Copper Company’s unified corporate information system that is currently being built.
The Russian Copper Company group consists of 5 running mining enterprises, 3 metals enterprises, a hydrometallurgical plant, a trading company and a number of new mining projects. The company has about 7 thousand employees and ranks as Russia’s third biggest producer by cathode copper output and second biggest producer by copper rod output. The Russian Copper Company plans to have advanced information technologies implemented to improve its corporate business management system.
The Russian Copper Company selected IBS in an open bidding process that involved a number of western and Russian IT service providers. Having reviewed the Russian Copper Company’s specific business processes, IBS professionals offered a multi-vendor solution: the 1C:Predpriyatie 8.1 (1C:Enterprise 8.1) platform for bookkeeping and tax accounting automation at some of the Group’s companies and a solution based on SAP SEM-BCS for consolidation and review of management information at the holding company level.
Maxim Schibrik, Vice President for Economics and Finance, ZAO Russian Copper Company: “Implementation of the unified corporate information system will ensure timely preparation of quality management information and information to be submitted to fiscal authorities and provide the management of the Russian Copper Company with efficient tools for review of company performance, forecasting financial results, assessing attainability of strategic objectives, and prompt decision-making on adjustments to any aspects of the Group’s operations.”
Implementation of the Business Consolidation Systems (BCS) module (part of the Strategic Enterprise Management (SAP SEM) software product) has now been completed and trial operation of the consolidation system has commenced. This system will ensure efficiency in providing the management of the Russian Copper Company with the company’s IFRS financial statements.
Alexander Saksin, Deputy Director, Corporate Management Systems Department, IBS: “In addition to cost benefits, the integrated solution for the Russian Copper Company provides flexibility benefits that enable a very fast transition to the state-of-the-art management information platform, given the scale and diversification of the holding company’s business. I should also note lower operation, maintenance and development costs of that solution.”
The corporate information system of the Russian Copper Company is expected to have more than 100 users. The entire project is expected to be completed in July 2009.
