Moscow, October 15, 2007 Following a bidding process OGK-1 JSC has awarded the IT strategy development contract to IBS, the Russian consulting company. By the end of this year IBS will audit the current business processes and the supporting information systems and determine the unified platform for information system implementation.
The IT strategy development project will be the first phase of the corporate management information system development program. The work group and the project steering committee are now being formed.
The project will result in a plan for the corporate management information system development, validated time and financial resources, information and organizational structure proposals, the statement of work for the corporate management information system and technical requirements for its subsystems. In early December an electric power plant will be identified as the pilot area where the system will be implemented concurrently with implementation at the OGK-1 headquarters.
“We expect a great deal from this project”, says Vladimir Khlebnikov, General Director of OGK-1: “The competitive environment emerging in the power industry requires on-going efforts to grow and make the company more efficient. Optimization of business and operating processes will improve management of purchasing, logistics, repairs and more importantly management of new generation capacity construction”.
“A long-term IT strategy is important for any business and a must for a public company. A well-conceived strategy helps to make the company more transparent, improves investment control and assists in building an infrastructure that is appropriate for the business objectives. OGK-1 has ambitious plans for growth, and most importantly this project seeks to leverage state-of-the-art information and management technologies to provide conditions for such growth”, Victor Nasyrov, Deputy General Director, IBS commented on the project.
